Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) is an independent development research institute in Norway. According to its website, CMI, “address issues that shape global developments and generate knowledge that can be used to fight poverty, advance human rights, and promote sustainable social development.” CMI collaborated with EDRI to implement project entitled women in ‘developmental state’: female employment and empowerment in Ethiopia and its extension project “Empowerment and jobs: Impacts on partner violence against women in Ethiopia”. These projects aim to deliver high quality research output and provide policy makers with solid evidence about the impacts of industrial jobs.
