Gebrehiwot Ageba Kebedew (DPhil) is the Director of Programs at EDRI. He holds a DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford, UK and a MPhil in Monetary Economics from the University of Glasgow, UK. He has also received certificates in Macroeconomic Modelling from Harvard University and in Competition and Regulation from Athens University. He has 17 years’ post-PhD experience in international organizations, academic administration and research management positions, different academic committees, academic and research work, policy advising, board membership, and consultancy in a number of African countries. He also worked as the Senior Economics Advisor at UNDP Malawi, and coordinated and contributed to the preparation of key official documents in the country, such as , the 2015 Malawi National Human Development Report on Inclusive Growth and the Malawi MDG Acceleration Framework on Gender Equality and Women Economic Empowerment. In AAU, he was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, and member of the Senate, the Council of Graduate Studies, the Board of Trustees of the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center based in AAU. He also served in different teaching and supervision positions as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the Ethiopian Journal of Development Research and of the Executive Committee at the Ethiopian Economic Association.
