EDRI held Gender Mainstreaming Policy Guideline Validation Workshop
The Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) organized a validation workshop on the Gender Mainstreaming Policy Guideline on the 23rd of June 2017 at the conference room. The work shop involved a brief presentation of and discussion on the guideline.
Dr. Gebrehiwot Ageba, Director of Programs at EDRI, opened the workshop by giving a welcoming remark and briefing the participants the procedures followed in the development of the document. Dr. Gebrehiwot stressed that the policy guideline is expected to be of direct bearing to the context of EDRI.
The document was then presented by the consultant who has taken a lead in the development process. The consultant acknowledged that the document was prepared in close consultation with the gender focal person at EDRI. She also stated that she had a considerable discussion with the Executive Director and the Programs Director in the effort to contextualize the policy document. She underscored that the feedback and support the guideline developing team got from both the Executive Director and the programs Director helped them frame the policy guideline in a way that fits to the context of EDRI. She disclosed that the development process considered document reviewing, key informant interview and focus group discussion.
The presenter then briefed the components in the document to the workshop attendants. Her presentation was followed by a discussion session. In the discussion session feedbacks and inputs was provided from the participants in order to enrich and add to the quality of the document.
