EDRI become a member of the Consortium of Ethiopian Academic and Research Libraries (CEARL).
EDRI has recently become a member of the Consortium of Ethiopian Academic and Research Libraries (CEARL), which facilitates information access and usage of over 65,000 online journals and e-resources. CEARL was established by Addis Ababa University (AAU) Library, current membership includes 24 research and academic institutes. EDRI membership comes as a result of a recently finalized partnership agreement with AAU Libraries, enabling all EDRI staff access to all available e-resources.
A brief orientation on how to access e-resources was given to EDRI research staffs on July 03, 2017 at the conference room by a team from Addis Ababa University (AAU) library. The orientation session was opened by Dr. Mulu Gebreyesus, a senior research fellow and chair of the reform committee at EDRI. He underscored that the training was organized at an appropriate time the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) has turned its attention to the digitalization and automation of resources as part of the institutional reform.
The Chief Librarian of AAU, Mr. Mesfin Gezahegn,also appreciated the move being made by EDRI in digitalizing as well as relying on e-resources in fostering the goals and objectives EDRI is primarily established for. In the orientation session, it was disclosed that EDRI has become a new member of the Consortium of Ethiopian Academic and Research Libraries (CEARL), and hence its researchers can access the e-resources availed by the consortium.
Mr. Mesfin reiterated on the contribution of automation and digitalization. The participants’ attention was then drawn on to how to access and get the best out of e-resources by Mr. Girma Aweke, Deputy Librarian of AAU and Country Coordinator for e-resources.
