“Japan’s most Invaluable Friend in Africa” H.E. Newai Gebre-ab receives the Highest Civilian Honor from Japan’s Government
H.E. Newai Gebre-ab, Chief Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Executive Director of the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) received Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Star from Japan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Kazuhiro Suzuki on behalf of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan on Wednesday July 05, 2016.
Ambassador Suzuki presents the award to Ato Newai Gebre-ab
This highest civilian award was given to H.E. for his contribution in advancing the Ethio-Japan relations. According to the Ambassador, as the founder and chair of the high level policy dialogue on industrial development between Ethiopia and Japan, he has attracted a number of Ethiopian leaders to participate in the forum. His efforts in spreading the Kaizen philosophy among Ethiopian institutions has resulted in the establishment of the Kaizen institute in 2011 honoring the most efficient institutes every year. Furthermore, as the Executive Director of EDRI, his engagement in frequent academic exchanges with his counterparts in the National Graduate Research Institute for Policy Studies, GRIPS in Japan has put him at the forefront for the award.
