The Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) and the Global Green Growth Institute launched the Global New Climate Economy report on September 16, 2014 at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa. The new major global report includes ten recommendations for sustainable development. This research conducted in Ethiopia is a crucial part of The New Climate Economy project by The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. The report is produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forest.
Speakers at the event include: H.E Belete Tafere – Minister for Environment and Forest; Trevor Manuel, former Minister of Finance of South Africa and Global Commissioner; Ato Newai Gebre-ab, Chief Economic Advisor to the Ethiopian Prime Minister; Yvo de Boer (Director General of the Global Green Growth Institute. Trevor Manuel described the report as “tangible evidence of the ability to develop and reduce emissions.” The report is the result of yearlong study conducted by leading research institutes from China, India, the US, Brazil, Korea, Europe and Africa
The report has been simultaneously launched in New York City.
